Bit of an odd one, this.
I just read this post over at ‘So Far Untitled’, a blog by Jezzarath (James). Go and have a look yourself, but the gist is that he received some excellent customer service from a guy called Ryan Podger at the holiday company Thompson. I mean, excellent. This guy Ryan went above and beyond to save James a few hundred pounds, which is an extremely rare occurrence as far as I know.
Now, we’ve all had experiences of awful customer service, especially over the phone — now I’d like us to celebrate awesome customer service, because, let’s face it, there are people out there working their behinds off to do the best they can for the person at the other end of the phone, and they never get enough credit.
Here’s what I propose:
Write a post, tweet a tweet, put up a Facebook status, share this link, or whatever it is you do. Just include the title ‘Thank You, Ryan Podger’ or the hashtag #thankyouryanpodger. In the post, tweet or whatever, link back to the article above.
And that’s it. Feel free to mention an instance of great customer service, especially over the phone.
It would be great if Ryan could find out about this (albeit tiny) outpouring of love from the good folks of the Internet. And Ryan, if you’re reading this, and you saved James his £700+ on his holiday to Mexico, get in touch and let us know. It’s a big world out there, but it’s made smaller by the power of the Internet.
Thank you to all the Ryan Podgers out there, for making our lives just that little bit easier.
